From Catwalk to Confidence – What I Learned at 59

I’ve walked bodybuilding stages. I’ve trained hundreds of women. But nothing quite compares to stepping onto a public catwalk at 59, surrounded by strangers, with the bright lights on and cameras clicking.
This weekend, I took part in Fashion Unfiltered - a community celebration of body positivity, individuality and confidence. I was proud to represent women over 50, who so often tell me they feel invisible. Not seen. Not celebrated.
But here’s the thing: I didn’t feel invisible. I felt fabulous.
Walking that catwalk wasn’t about strutting like a 20- something model. It was about owning my age, embracing my strength, and showing every woman watching that confidence has no expiry date.
And that if I can do it, so can you.
Was I nervous? Yes.
Was it out of my comfort zone? Absolutely.
But it reminded me just how important it is to say yes to new experiences - especially the ones that make your heart race.
I walked with pride, a wink, and my head held high - not just for me, but for every woman who’s ever felt like it was “too late” to shine.
If my little moment in heels and different styles inspired even one woman to step forward, speak up, or try something bold, then it was worth every step.
Here’s to showing up, standing tall, and proving that fabulous doesn’t fade - it just gets bolder with age.
